I'm so excited to share my very first illustrated book cover! When HarperCollins approached me last year about illustrating a book cover, I could not be more excited – and then I had to wait until last week for it to come out!
If you follow my Instagram, you may have spotted me geeking out over the beautifully designed book in my local Barnes & Noble. There it was, in the Realistic Teen Fiction section, with all the real books.
When I was approached to do the cover, I had just finished reading The Fault in Our Starsand Eleanor and Park, both of which I loved. So I was thrilled to read another in the genre, much less be doing the cover for Say What You Will. Cammie McGovern's book is a truly heartfelt yet heartbreaking coming of age story about two teens who learn to be bigger than the hand they were dealt in life.
I have to admit, I still love reading YA – especially books in this genre. It reminds me of how life changing The Perks of Being A Wallflower was for me when it came out when I was a teenager.
Thank you to AD Alison Klapthor for the wonderful opportunity, and thank you to all of you for your support and kind words about this big moment for me. I truly appreciate it.
